GIBSON TOWNSHIP, Pa. — The Tunkhannock community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Peter Thatcher, 45, Sandra Thatcher, 45, Noah Thatcher, 11, and Layla Thatcher, 10, who died Saturday morning in a devastating single-vehicle crash in Susquehanna County.
Pennsylvania State Police responded at approximately 10:16 a.m. to the area of 1365 Rock Mountain Drive after receiving reports of a one-vehicle collision. When emergency responders arrived, they found a sedan approximately 60 feet down a steep embankment off the roadway.
Authorities identified all four victims as members of the Thatcher family from Tunkhannock. Peter and Sandra, both 45, were killed alongside their two children, Noah, 11, and Layla, 10. All four occupants were pronounced dead at the scene.
Emergency personnel from several fire departments and EMS agencies responded to the crash. The Susquehanna County Coroner’s Office also assisted with the investigation and recovery operation.
